Parramatta City Library launches eReaders lending service

Clr Scott Lloyd officially launch Parramatta City Councils Library e-Reader lending service last Wednesday 29 May.
The new service was made possible through a $40,000 grant from the NSW State Library, which enabled Parramatta City Library to purchase 100 Sony and Kobo eReaders.
Parramatta City Councillor, Scott Lloyd, said "I think it’s truly wonderful that our library can provide access to tablets for people who otherwise wouldn't have that access."
“One of our City’s goals for our future is to take the greatest advantage of the advances in technology and become a Smart City. The introduction of E-Readers at Parramatta City Library is that kind of initiative” Clr Lloyd said.
“With more than 5,000 e-books available for download, library members can now download the latest bestseller from the comfort of their own home.” “This technology will help equip the community to thrive in an “e-world” and engage positively with learning and reducing society’s digital divide”
“There’s also the added advantage of not having to worry about returning books on time, an eBook automatically returns itself,” Cr Lloyd said.
